Welcome!
You may be here for any of many reasons. Your reason will determine whether you find what you are looking for. Or maybe not. Good luck figuring it out.
Tremendous amounts of incriminating information about me can be gathered on the web. The big stockpile is at my BUCS web page, http://cs-people.bu.edu/artdodge/. If you want gobs and gobs of personal information about me, try perusing the personal information section; you may be more interested in my scientific research interests or my forays into the exciting world of Linux.
The ZealForYourHouse.com web site isn't so much about me as it is about a vision for a compelling, vibrant, growing, healthy church storming the gates of 21st century western culture and transforming it into one which glorifies the Creator.
Of course, the fact that it is in fact me who edits the site and writes most of the content means that vision is coming largely through my own lenses. So this page is here to offer you a little more context on just who the whacko is who's behind all of this.
Faith
I am a Christian. My theology is in the intersection of Evangelicalism and Pentecostal/Charismaticism, with a healthy dose of Covenantalist Postmillennialism thrown in for good measure. How I came to these positions is a long and interesting story, but for now I will simply say that you can go a long way toward understanding my beliefs by reading the works of Gordon Fee and Kenneth Gentry.
Organizationally, I identify most closely with the Christian City Church International (C3i) movement based out of Sydney, Australia. My spiritual "home" is The Rock of Asheville in Asheville, NC, a member church in C3i. At present I am attending Newsong Community Church, a small CGGC church in Westford, MA, where I play and sing on the worship team and occasionally preach when Pastor Dave is out of town.
Commitments
I got married April 23, 2004 to Ms. Heather Little of Asheville, NC. We are registered at Bed Bath and Beyond if you would like to help give us a kick in the right direction establishing our new household.
Vocation
My vocation is first and foremost to be a man of God and a Godly husband. Within the context of that, my profession is academic Computer Science.
I recently received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from Boston University, studying under Professors Azer Bestavros and Assaf Kfoury. My thesis, A Type-Disciplined Approacah to Developing Resources and Applications for the World-Wide Web, explored the applicability of programming language techniques such as type systems to correctness and formalization problems in developing applications for open systems like the Internet.
I am currently serving as a Research Associate with the iBench Initiative in Boston University's Computer Science department, and am currently seeking an appointment to an Assistant Professorship somewhere.
Long-term, I believe I am called to play some sort of full-time ministry role, although the time for that is "not yet". In the meantime, I'm learning an awful lot about leadership and what it takes to be a responsible and successful adult in any area of life/ministry.
